I am the owner of a Revision A 233 MHz Bondi iMac from 1998. I have upgraded the video card (GameWizzard Voodoo 2), the hard drive (Maxtor 120GB, new Sept. 7, 03), added 256 MB of RAM, replaced the processor (with a 466 MHz Newer Tech. G3) and recently replaced a bad CRT. It currently runs OS X Server version 10.2.6. Here are a few handy resources for basic and not-so-basic iMac repairs. I will add more to this page as I get more requests.
Before you begin, please read my DISCLAIMER.

Gamba over at Earthlink has put together THIS page, which is the most complete resource I have seen for repair manual PDFs and CIP (Customr Installable Parts) pages. If you can't find something on my site, I bet you'll find it here.

Well folks, after 7 years of service, the iMac has been officially retired from active duty. He was a brave little soldier. Godspeed, little buddy.
Taking its place is a new Mac Mini, which we hope brings us even a fraction of the enjoyment. =)
In about June of 2001, my iMac suddenly developed a monitor problem. After fussing with it for almost 9 months, I finally fixed it. Here's how...
March 19, 2003 - Today I came across a new site devoted to iMac and PowerMac repair issues. If your efforts at Do-It-Yourself fail, you might want to check out this resource. They handle shipping and everything looks fairly easy.
UPDATE 9-9-03 - After nearly 2 years, the iMac display is still working flawlessly. It's running OS X Server 10.2.6 and serving this site. I always set my display to sleep when idle, but I never shut the machine off. So far so good!
July 25, 2005 - The iMac ran well for 7 years and spent the last 4 of them running 24/7 serving our web site. We've upgraded our server but the iMac still works, and the monitor has never again had any sort of problem.
This covers the entire system's dis-assembly procedures for earlier Tray-Loading iMacs. Use this as a starting point for any repair. CAUTION, file is large (9 MB).
I have posted the documentation for newer iMac DV models. Thanks to Travis Sherer for tracking this down.
I created this PDF from a website located HERE. For the links and the movie to work, you need to go to the site. The PDF should only be downloaded if the site comes down.
CAUTION!!! CRT's CAN KILL!!! The following can be dangerous. If you are not comfortable with working with high-voltage CRT's, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS REPAIR. Take your iMac to an Apple repair center and have a professional handle it.
Use this to reset color and geometry values after a repair. Only works in OS 9, and only on some iMacs. I am working on a list of compliant models.
Here is a short overview of your monitor options on various iMac models.
Article in WIRED that may be of some use in repurposing older Macs.
